Understand before you act: your questions, our explanations

Before, during and after a visit, at home or on your premises: what happens, what you can do and what the rules say.

The essentials

Before you book

Area, method, payment, safety, paperwork: the points people check before trusting us with a home or business.

Do you work for households as well as businesses, and in which départements?

Yes. We work first and foremost for households (flats and houses, tenants and owners alike), and also for businesses: shops, restaurants, offices, hotels, short-let hosts, landlords and property managers. We cover Paris (75) and the whole of Île-de-France: Seine-et-Marne (77), Yvelines (78), Essonne (91), Hauts-de-Seine (92), Seine-Saint-Denis (93), Val-de-Marne (94) and Val-d'Oise (95).

How does a visit under the Sentinel Protocol work?

In four stages. Inspect: the technician goes round the property, records the signs and locates the entry points. Treat: they choose a targeted method in proportion to what they found. Sanitise: they seal or proof the gaps and advise you on hygiene and storage. Follow up: a follow-up visit takes place as set out in the protocol, with a photo report and active-vigilance tips between visits.

How do I book and pay for a visit?

On the website, you enter the type of pest, the floor area and the number of visits: the price including VAT is shown before you confirm anything. You then choose a day and a 2-hour slot, 7 days a week between 8 am and 8 pm, and pay online by card through a secure platform. A confirmation is e-mailed to you, and the invoice is made out to your household or company.

How do you protect children, pets and food?

Our technicians hold the Certibiocide (the French biocide handling certificate) and only use authorised products. Rodent baits go inside secure stations, gels are placed in cracks out of reach, and we favour physical methods (dry steam, proofing) when they are enough. The report sets out the precautions to follow after the visit, room by room.

What documents do I receive at the end of the visit?

A photo report e-mailed to you on the same day. It describes what the technician found, the entry points identified, the treatments carried out and products used, the precautions to follow and, where planned, the date of the follow-up visit. It is a useful document for a landlord, a property manager or a hygiene file.

Can you promise the pests will never come back?

No, and no serious professional should: a return also depends on the neighbours, the building and habits on site. Our commitment is to do everything a professional protocol requires (an obligation of means): a complete protocol, a follow-up visit as set out in the protocol, a photo report and practical advice to reduce the risk of reinfestation.

I'm a tenant: should I or my landlord pay for treatment?

Usually the landlord: since France's 2018 ELAN law, a rented home must be free of pests, unless the landlord proves negligence by the tenant. The details, including recoverable charges, are set out in a full answer.

In a co-owned building, who should call you in?

The syndic (managing agent) for cellars, courtyards, bin stores and ducts; each co-owner or occupant for their own unit. Results are better when both are coordinated.

By service

Questions specific to each pest

Rodents, insects, bed bugs, wasps and hornets, disinfection, prevention: each service has its own particulars.

Rodent control: rats and mice

How soon does the activity die down?

Noise and tracks usually drop noticeably in the days after the stations are set, as the rodents feed on the bait. The follow-up visit, 10 to 15 days later, checks that progress and adjusts the set-up if needed.

Why do mice so often come back in autumn?

As temperatures fall, mice look for warmth and food and slip in through the smallest gap. That is why we seal the entry points we find: an opening left as it is remains a doorway for the next season.

Is my cat or dog at risk?

The bait sits inside locked stations an animal cannot open. If you would rather avoid any product, or in a commercial kitchen, we use snap traps instead.

A smell appears a few days later: what should I do?

Let us know. A rodent may die somewhere hard to reach. The technician locates the area at the follow-up visit and suggests the least invasive fix: removal if it is accessible, odour treatment if not.

Crawling insect treatment

Explore the service →
Why identify the insect before treating?

Because the right product and the right place differ from one species to the next. Cockroaches live near warmth and moisture, ants carry bait back to the nest, fleas develop in rugs and bedding. The wrong treatment scatters the insects without solving the problem.

Does cockroach gel mean leaving the kitchen?

No. The gel is applied in tiny drops in out-of-reach spots and has no smell. You can keep using the room; just clear the space under the sink and behind the appliances before the visit.

Can my restaurant stay open during treatment?

With a gel treatment, yes: it is not sprayed, leaves no visible residue and is placed away from preparation surfaces. For a wider treatment we schedule the visit outside service hours.

Bed bug treatment

Do I have to get rid of the mattress?

Rarely. Dry steam followed by a full encasement is enough in most cases. We only suggest replacing a mattress if it is torn, because bed bugs can then hide inside, out of the treatment's reach.

How do I prepare my home before the visit?

Wash bedding and any washable clothes at 60 °C, store them in sealed bags, clear the area around the beds and along the skirting boards, and vacuum, throwing the bag away straight after. The full checklist is emailed to you when you book.

Why a second visit?

A few eggs can stay protected in a crevice during the first treatment. The follow-up visit, timed after they hatch, deals with that generation before it can breed.

I live in a block of flats: are my neighbours affected?

Possibly, since bed bugs move through ducts and along skirting boards. In a co-owned building, inform the syndic, the managing agent that runs the building: inspecting neighbouring flats reduces the risk of bugs coming back from next door.

Wasp and hornet nest removal

Explore the service →
Do you also deal with honeybee swarms?

No, we do not destroy bees, which are precious pollinators. We refer you to a beekeeper who can collect the swarm.

I've spotted an Asian hornet nest: what should I do in the meantime?

Keep your distance, at least five metres, do not touch the nest and do not try to block or spray it. Close nearby windows, keep children and pets away, and note where it is so you can guide the technician.

Why doesn't the price depend on floor area?

Because we treat a nest, not square metres: the work is the same for a house, an upstairs flat or a shop. The price therefore stays fixed.

Disinfection of homes and premises

Explore the service →
Aren't cleaning and disinfecting the same thing?

No. Cleaning gets rid of visible dirt; disinfection then destroys the remaining micro-organisms with a biocide left to act for the required time. We do both, always in that order.

Is there a smell afterwards?

The disinfectants we use evaporate once their contact time is over. Airing the room for one to two hours is usually enough before you use it again.

Do you provide written proof?

Yes. The report states the date, the surfaces treated and the products used. You can send it to your landlord or insurer, or show it during an inspection.

In a co-owned building, who should take out the contract?

For common areas (cellars, bin stores, car parks), it is normally the syndic, the building's managing agent, acting on behalf of the co-owners. Each owner or tenant remains responsible for their own flat and can book a visit separately.

How many visits a year?

From four visits a year for a building with no history to a monthly visit for a commercial kitchen. The frequency is set after the initial visit and can change depending on what we observe.

What is the minimum term?

The basic plan lasts twelve months. The exact term and cancellation conditions are set out in the written proposal we send you after visiting the site.

A particular situation?

Tell us what you are seeing: a technician will point you to the right service, for your home or your business.
