Clues that should prompt you to act

  1. 01Trails of ants returning to the same spot every day
  2. 02Small mounds of sand or dust at the foot of a wall
  3. 03Winged ants appearing in a room in warm weather
  4. 04Ants in the sugar bowl, the honey jar or the cat's bowl

A trail of ants across a worktop is only the visible face of the colony. The queen and the brood stay hidden in a wall, under tiles or in a planter, and spraying the workers sometimes makes the colony split into several nests.

The technician starts by identifying the species, then follows the trails back to place a slow-acting gel bait on their routes. Workers carry it to the nest and share it with the rest of the colony, queen included. The cracks and gaps they use to get in are then sealed.

Sentinel Protocol

How the visit unfolds

The Sentinel Protocol always follows the same order: we inspect before treating, sanitise before leaving and plan the follow-up.

Frequently asked questions

There are more ants in the days after the visit: is that normal?

+

Yes: the workers come to collect the bait to feed the colony. Leave the drops where they are, do not wipe them and avoid any insecticide spray for those few days.

How do I recognise a pharaoh ant?

+

It is a tiny ant, about 2 mm long and pale yellow, often found in heated buildings. It has several queens and splits up when disturbed, so it is treated with bait only, never sprayed.

Can a food shop be treated without closing?

+

In most cases, yes: the bait is applied in very small amounts, away from food and preparation surfaces. The technician agrees a quiet slot with you, often before opening time.
