Clues that should prompt you to act

  1. 01Black droppings 3 to 6 mm long, scattered along the runs
  2. 02Gnawed packets of cereal, pasta or pet food
  3. 03Light scurrying or scratching inside the walls in the evening
  4. 04A musky urine smell in a cupboard or drawer

The house mouse (Mus musculus) settles somewhere warm, close to food: under kitchen units, behind dry lining, behind appliances or above a suspended ceiling. It nibbles a little everywhere instead of feeding in one spot, and a 6 to 7 mm gap is enough for it to get through.

So the technician tightens the net: many small control points on its real runs rather than a few large baits put down at random. Secure stations and traps are chosen room by room, then gaps around pipes and cables and at skirting joints are proofed.

Sentinel Protocol

How the visit unfolds

The Sentinel Protocol always follows the same order: we inspect before treating, sanitise before leaving and plan the follow-up.

Included in every visit

  • A photo report emailed on the day of the visit
  • A two-hour slot and a call before arrival
  • A published price, paid online before the visit
  • A technician holding the Certibiocide
  • Approved products, used only where needed
  • Written advice to reduce the risk of pests returning
  1. 01

    Inspect

Search for droppings, gnawing and runs behind skirting, ducts and appliances; an endoscope to look inside dry lining if needed.

  2. 02

    Treat

A tight grid of secure stations and traps on the runs, adapted to each room; mechanical traps only in sensitive settings.

  3. 03

    Sanitise

Gaps around pipes and cables, skirting joints and door bottoms proofed, steel wool in holes, advice on storing food.

  4. 04

    Follow up

Follow-up visit as set out in the protocol, every station and trap checked, photo report and points to keep an eye on at home.

Frequently asked questions

I've only seen one mouse: is it really an infestation?

+

Mice come out mostly at night, so seeing one in daylight usually means others live close by. A female can have several litters a year: it is better to have an inspection early, while the population is still small.

Do ultrasonic devices drive mice away?

+

Mice get used to them quickly, and the sound does not pass through walls or furniture. These devices do not replace treating the runs or proofing the gaps.

Do you work in nurseries, schools or commercial kitchens?

+

Yes. In these settings the technician favours mechanical traps and proofing, places every device out of reach and schedules follow-up visits closer together.
